The "Peugeot Freres" company, or Peugeot Brothers company, was officially founded in 1810, four years before the Battle of Waterloo and has been manufacturing cars since 1889. The famous "lion" emblem has been in use since the 1850s when it was stamped on all Peugeot-made products to symbolise the strength and flexibility of the steel which was the company's core product at that time. The company grew and prospered in no little way as a consequence of the ingenuity and creativity of the Peugeot brothers. By 1900, car production had reached around 500 vehicles a year and by 1925, the 100,000th Peugeot car came off the production line. Now in the 21st Century, the Peugeot marque has continued to grow thanks to its on-going commitment to ingenuity and creativity complemented by careful attention to style and innovation. Every Peugeot is a terrific car to drive, with stunning good looks, advanced technology and exceptional reliability.
